Saturday Morning Triples Match Report - 22nd May 2021

This Saturday's results are again a mixed bag with unfortunately more losses than wins.

At home George Stevens, Trevor Anderson and Peter Smith recorded a great win 29-8 against Fordingbridge D and in the other half of that game Colin Taylor, Paul Avern and Mike Oliver tried hard but went down 18-22, still an overall win for Branksome.

In the other home game against Southbourne E both results were tight with Brian Appleyard, Frank Westfield and Rob Haile just loosing out 13-15 while Cliff Cover, Arthur Baxter and Roy Knott, in his first game, scrapped home 15-14.

Away at Kings Park a heavy green caused pain for us with both teams losing out 13-17 and 9-35, I expect they are all longing to get back on home turf!

In the other away game against Bournemouth Broncos Dominic Cockcroft, Tim Hawkins and Brian Prosser came good with an 18-14 win and, in a close fight, Andy Upshall, Ron Emmitt and Bill Harris went down 15-21.

Branksome Park v Highcliffe 'A' (Away) 20th May 2021

Gill Moxom writes:

I must add we were playing against their 1st team, the weather was foul, but we soldiered on.

Branksome Park  13   Highcliffe  17     Betty, Jane, Monica

Branksome Park  15   Highcliffe   24     Liz, Gill,  Jen

We may have lost but the girls kept going in horrendous wind and rain at the beginning  but it did brighten up so we managed 18 ends.

Monica's team had a slow start but they gradually caught up and in the end their match was quite close.

My thanks to the girls.

Branksome Park  v Ringwood (Home) - 15th May 2021

Not a good result for Branksome as we were well beaten by Ringwood.

Our only winning rink was Bob Harris’s which included Paul Mullender and Geoff Shand, they just managed to hold on and won by one shot.

As for the other rinks Alec McKenzie’s lost by only 3 shots after only winning one end in the last eight. Barry Stone lost 10-17 after picking up 8 shots in the last 4 ends.
Brendan Sullivan lost 13-19 (leading 11-4 after 10 ends) due to a poor second half of the match.

However we did have 6 good players sat on the subs bench !!!
