Branksome Park v Argyll (home and away) 8th August 2020
Since Covid this is the second time we have had guests visit the club and this time it was the turn of our Bournemouth neighbours Argyll.
We played 3 rinks of triples home and away but due to illness Branksome had two members drop out so thanks to Tony Jennings for filling in for Jen Cookson and Stuart Stephens for deputising for skip Chris Hollier.
The overall result at Branksome Park was 68/37 to Branksome who won on 2 rinks and drew on the third. Jim Garner supported by John Pinson and Mike Barron won by 19 shots 29/10, Stuart Stephens (substituting for Chris Hollier) with Graham Cox and Deric Pritchard won by 12 shots 24/12, and Alan Bliss, Chris Dennis and Ken Joy drew 15/15.
Despite the appalling driving behaviour and parking 'discipline' of the crowds of beach visitors the teams arrived in good time and quickly settled down on the Argyll green. All three rinks quickly established good leads which were never really challenged for the rest of a very hot afternoon and Branksome ran out 67/35 winners.
Bob Harris, Sue Harris and Bill Harris won by 12 shots 22/10, Roger Parnell, Val Baxter, and Arthur Baxter won by 15 shots 16/11 and Brian Cookson, Tony Jenkins (sub for Jen Cookson) and Frank Westfield won by 4 shots 19/15 having charitably gifted Argyll 4 shots on the final end (Brian blames the direction he had been given before he bowled his final wood!).
We were well looked after by the Argyll members and it was good to be able to play on another rink for the first time this season.

Whatever the result we all had an enjoyable game in very sunny conditions, with great company and possibly two of the best locations locally.
Thanks to Charlie Graham for arranging the Argyll teams.
Next game is home and away to Knyveton Gardens on Saturday 15th August at 1400hrs.
