Branksome Park v Poole Park (home and away) 1st August 2020
Since Covid this is the first time we have had any guests visit the club and it was only right and proper that our ‘arch friends’ Poole Park should be the first to do so.
We played 3 rinks of triples home and away but due to illness Branksome had two members drop out so thanks to Tony Jennings for filling in for Stuart Stephens and Deric Pritchard for Chris Dennis who did visit both venues at the cost of a large ice cream for Bev!
The overall result at Branksome Park was 48/52 to Poole Park. Jim Garner was playing against a tough rink and together with Terry Lemon and Tony Jennings they did well to hold their opponents to a 6 shot difference 12/18. Geoff Shand’s rink lost by one shot 18/19 and Ken Joy’s won by one shot 17/16.
The rink at Poole Park looked a lot slower than our own and there were a lot of short jacks being played. Chris Hollier’s rink went down 14/20 but Brian Cookson, Jen Cookson and Deric Pritchard fought back from behind to triumph over a very strong Poole rink 17/13 they were well behind when I left and Brian was having no luck! Bob Harris, Sue Harris and Bill Harris got us over the line with a fine win 21/7 so overall there it was 40/52.
It was nice to play in the sun seeing old friends and having a chat afterwards so well done to both clubs for looking after one another.

Next game is home and away to Argyll on Saturday 8th August at 1400hrs.
