Saturday Morning Triples Match Report - 11th June 2022
Not sure where the Bowls Gods went to this week with only one team, the Dolphins, picking up points at home while the Eagles and Falcons fell to away sides that were at or near the bottom of their Sections. Both opposition teams showed their gratitude for the points by providing extra Chocolate Biscuits ;-). The Dolphins enjoyed a successful home match against Boscombe Cliff winning 39 - 29 and picking up 5 points. On Rink 3 Ron Emmitt, Betty Garbutt & Mike Oliver found themselves 10 shots down after 8 ends but then won the next 6 ends to draw level 13 -13 only to drop behind again and went into the final end 2 shots down. A 2 saw them finish level 16 -16. On Rink 4 Janet King, Graham New & Mike Garbutt won 23 - 13. They were 6 shots down after 3 ends having dropped a 7 then won the next 4 ends to go 2 shots ahead only to have a wobble for 2 ends but then went in front again again winning 6 of the last 9 ends and scoring 13 shots including a 5 on the 15th end. The Eagles were away to Solar Electric where despite losing to a determined opposition on a somewhat 'spongy' rink they enjoyed a very friendly match in the sunshine. On Rink 1 Tina Richardson, Trevor Anderson, and Dom Maeremans lost 18 - 12 having led 10 - 3 after 7 ends. Thanks to the opposing skip who finally found his accuracy they didn't score another shot until the 16th end by which time the game was as lost. On Rink 2 Frank Westfield, Arthur Baxter, and Mo Hollier enjoyed a much closer game and were leading 10 - 9 after 12 ends but also got stuck on 10 and found themselves 6 shots down with 2 ends to play. A fortuitous 5 on the 17th saw them go into the last end one shot adrift but unfortunately a measure for shot wood went against them and the match finished 15 - 17. The Falcons were away to Iford Bridge where they struggled on a heavy and unpredictable green. On Rink 1 George Stevens, Terry Stimpson, and Colin Taylor lost 9 - 27. On Rink 2 Roger Owen, Ted Coates, and Brian Miller lost 26 - 14 having been all square ( 8 - 8) after 8 ends and 1 shot down (10 - 11) after 10 ends they too got stuck on 10 for 6 ends during which they dropped 14 shots including a 6 and a 4.
