Branksome Park Temporary Covid-19 Rules (Update 2)

BACKGROUND

The Government have issued a further document dated 2nd June 2020 which can be found on the Bowls England website (for anoraks) setting out further relaxed guidelines for bowling.  We will still use the current Bowls England risk assessment document which has been used to undertake an inspection of our policies to mitigate risk at the club to the lowest possible level.  The guidelines now allow up to 6 bowlers from different households on a rink at any one time with a 20 minutes gap between play and spectators providing they socially distance as prescribed.  Providing members and spectators adhere to our guidelines/instructions the risk is LOW.

The green can only be used by FULL MEMBERS and NO GUESTS except organised coaching sessions (see Coaching Addendum).  Formats such as singles, pairs and triples are now allowed.

ALL MEMBERS USING THE GREEN DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK AND MUST ADHERE TO THE CONDITIONS OF THIS POLICY.  THE CLUB HOLDS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY MEMBERS FALLING ILL.

SUMMARY OF BOWLS ENGLAND PRESCRIBED PLAYING ARRANGEMENTS
  • Off-site booking system for rink allocation (if possible Google Calendar)
  • Minimum of 20 minutes between allocated time slots to enable players to arrive/depart safely
  • Clubs to communicate in advance with players to advise on social distancing requirements that are being applied on arrival at the club – for example not leaving cars until a certain time before their allocated time slot
  • Only play on alternate rinks e.g. 1, 3, 5 OR 2, 4, 6 (keep an empty rink between rinks that are being played on).
  • Maximum of six players from different households per rink
  • Spectators to be admitted to the club providing they stay socially distant 2 meters
  • Capping the number of occasion’s a player can book a rink each week to ensure that the available capacity is distributed fairly

 
BRANKSOME PARK POLICY AND GUIDELINES

The Management Committee has decided to Open the green for FULL MEMBERS (and approved Formal Coaching) but, only in line with the following strict guidelines prescribed for Open Play only.

The following rules subject to further amendment(s) MUST be adhered to WEF.
Monday 15th June 2020.

You MUST book a time slot in advance of coming to the club, you cannot turn up by chance or book a time by personally attending the club.

HOW DO I BOOK A RINK?

Please ring/text or WhatsApp Chris Dennis 07912 648679 between 1800/2000hrs ONLY Monday to Friday inclusive.

You can book to play seven days in advance for an allocated slot to play (Monday to Sunday inclusive).  You will receive notification that you have been reserved a slot.

 

ENTERING and EXITING the premises – ALL members MUST enter and exit the greenside from the car park using the side entrance. NO other entry point is to be used.  There must be a twenty (20) minute gap between bowlers arriving and bowlers leaving. Change your shoes by your car to save using the benches (if possible, could one member stay behind in the car park in their car until a member from the next session arrives, otherwise you will have to secure the hut, gate and car park).

Time slots 1100/1240 - 1300/1440 – 1500/1640 – 1700/ To END. This will allow ALL members fair access to the green and allows a statutory 20 minutes gap between play.  Only 3 separated rinks to be in play to maintain 2 meters social distancing.  They will always be known as rink 1 left/2 middle/3 right when allocation confirmed.

FAIRNESS -   Members can only book 2 sessions per week in advance to ensure equity.  Chris will note if you would like to be play more and if there are space’s he will try to let you know.  Accordingly, if too many members want slots you will only be allowed one session per week.

CLUBHOUSE and TOILET - Only one member may enter the clubhouse ONLY to use the washroom facilities or 1 lady and 1 gent at the same time, taking care when entering or exiting clubhouse.  You must wipe down the seat, cistern handle and door handle before using the toilet and before exiting.  If you touch it, wipe it!
Please ensure clubhouse door is secure when you leave!

DON’T COME TO THE CLUB IF YOU HAVE ANY COLD OR FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS, TEMPERATURE, COUGH, SNEEZING ETC

  1. FULL MEMBERS ONLY allowed to use the green unsupervised.
    Maximum of 2 players per rink, only 3 rinks in use. The rinks will be set out with red and white tape with a central aiming point in both directions (Woodland and Tennis Court). No other equipment to be used other than below. The rinks will be changed weekly to ensure even wear. Monday/Wednesday/Friday/ Sunday (Woodland) and Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday (Tennis Courts).
     
  2. Members should change their shoes in the Car park to avoid sitting on the benches.
     
  3. Mats and jacks will be in a box in the doorway of the steward’s hut. The key to the car park will be on a hook on the door so there should be no need to enter the hut or indeed the clubhouse for anything bowls related.
     
  4. EIGHTEEN (18) members maximum at the club at any one-time bowling; spectators can watch providing they socially distance the prescribed 2 metres.
     
  5. No handling of anyone else’s bowls; use feet to move bowls.
     
  6. You MUST use 2 jacks and move jacks with feet – jack at either end to be placed before leaving end.
     
  7. Two mats to be used on each rink, to be lifted and placed by one nominated player.
     
  8. Members who find kicking the balls back difficult or unsafe may use a bowl pusher.  Each team/individual who has charge of the mat will have charge of the pusher at the opposite end. So, when the mat is being set the other person moves the balls with the ball pusher. That way only one person from each team need touch their ball pusher. They must be cleaned as per other equipment before and after use.
     
  9. You MUST always maintain social distancing (2 metres).
     
  10. Keep hands clean, wash hands or use sanitizer before and after bowling.
     
  11. From 21st June 2020

    Introduce pairs

    When playing pairs the following will apply
    • When arriving one nominated individual from the rink will collect 2 mats and 2 jacks he/she will ensure they are sanitised before and after the game and replaced.
       
    • The jack will always be set by the skip using his/her feet (NO ROLLING BY HAND).
       
    • It will be necessary during the game for skips to also touch the mats so please ensure you wash/sanitise your hands.
       
    • Each side will take charge of one mat and one jack at each end, when you remove your mat you set the jack before you leave the end.  The other team will then set the mat to bowl and vice versa.
       
    • When leaving the end always walk to the left allowing your opponent a two metres start


    From 14th July 2020

    Introduce triples

    When playing triples the following will apply

    • When arriving one nominated individual from the rink will collect 2 mats and 2 jacks he/she will ensure they are sanitised before and after the game and replaced.
       
    • The jack will always be set by the skip using his/her feet (NO ROLLING BY HAND).
       
    • It will be necessary during the game for skips to also touch the mats so please ensure you wash/sanitise your hands.
       
    • Each side will take charge of one mat and one jack at each end, when you remove your mat you set the jack before you leave the end.  The other team will then set the mat to bowl and vice versa.

    • When the leads have bowled, they will join the skips to ensure there are never six players moving on the same rink

    • When leaving the end always walk to the left allowing your opponent a two metres start
       
  12. After play, jacks & mats to be thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant spray/disposable wipes before being returned to the steward’s hut.
     
  13. Leave club SECURE as soon as rollup over.
     
  14. No organised games at present; make up your own rules.

THE INTENT OF THESE RULES IS TO USE THE LEAST EQUIPMENT POSSIBLE.

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE AND AVOID TOUCHING EQUIPMENT NOT BELONGING TO YOU.

ENSURE YOU SANITISE YOUR HANDS THEREAFTER.

 NO HANDSHAKES OR HIGH FIVES!

These rules have been designed to reduce the risk of cross infection as much as possible. Individuals not following these rules will be excluded from using the club. If continuous breaches occur, then the club will be closed.

The regulations will be notified to all members and posted within the steward’s hut on the inside of the door.

Please read carefully - you must always abide by them.

The club will make every effort to enable members to enjoy a Roll-Up/Open Play, but it is up to all members to do the right thing.  We accept there might be the odd accidental indiscretion, so it is incumbent on us all to remind fellow members of the rules and report continued transgressions to the Management Committee.  Failing to do the right thing could see that member or all members excluded from roll-ups with immediate effect if we are seen to act against the health and safety of ALL members.

IF FURTHER GUIDELINES ARE PUBLISHED FROM BOWLS ENGLAND WE WILL AMEND ACCORDINGLY AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
