Austerity was not in evidence at this year's themed evening as we tried to re-live the good parts of the 1940's.
Ration books and waist lines were forgotten as we dined and wined 'late' (for us) into the evening accompanied by the voices of Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields.
The catering volunteers were up to their usual high standards providing us with a meal of ample portions of Cottage Pie and veg. followed equally large helpings of Apple Pie and Custard.
Following the meal, members of the social performed memorable? sketches and monologues as well as a session of Bingo. The evening was rounded off with a rousing chorus of community singing. Those white cliffs will never be the same again!
